Last Supper Service
Wednesday April 3rd at 6:00 PM
The Last Supper of our Lord was a Passover meal where Jesus reinterpreted the elements in light of his approaching death and resurrection. Join us for a special Wednesday night service to be guided through a reenactment of this last meal to tell part of the story of Holy Week.
Matzah Bread
The Matzah bread was eaten “in haste” according to the Exodus narrative. Its flattened unleavened nature beckons us to remember the urgency with which the ancient Israelites left Egypt.
Maror (Bitter Herbs)
The bitter herbs (and they are bitter!) symbolize the oppressive slavery in Egypt. Its sharp taste reminds us of the spiritual pain of our bondage to the darkness of sin.
Christ, our Passover Lamb
A traditional Passover meal would feature a lamb shank to represent the Passover lamb that was sacrificed. However, Paul tells the Corinthian church that Christ was our Passover lamb. Thus, our symbolic meal on Holy Wednesday will feature an empty slot at the shank bone circle.
